Eating disorders are disorders manifested by changes in eating behavior. The most common and well-known are anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder. Eating disorders arise from a deep sense of psychological distress and eventually compromise both physical and mental health and require targeted intervention. Because of their complexity, treatment requires the intervention of several health professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, internists, and other mental health professionals.
